My house: a safe value

Basing us on the data published recently by different organisms and institutions, we could interpret that the price of the houses has finished the valuing correction from which comes speaking since there per 2008 the economic crisis began.

According to the National Institute of Estadística (INE), in the third trimester of this year the prices of the houses have lowered a 0.9 percent with respect to first, whereas if we observed the inter-annual variation has lowered a 3.5 percent. Nevertheless, the number of transactions produced in Spain during August has grown a 30 percent with respect to the same period of the past year.

These numbers, that causes that we are levels of prices of 2005, we would have to interpret them not as a recovery of the price from the short house to or half term, as it seems evident, but like a stabilization of the same if we not only centered our glance in the last numbers but in the evolution that they are having. That is to say, most probable it is than in a relatively short period (4 or 5 years) the real estate prices will not hardly undergo variations.

Perhaps thus, we think that to invest in house it will continue being in the long term a safe and profitable investment, not as much as in the last decades, but even so profitable, since long term the price raises in all the markets. A very illustrative example is stock-market.

As they remember, in 1929 crash of stock-market of New York took place, that supposed a fall of the prices of the actions until half of its value in a matter of days. Then, in the long term, that great impact has recovered and exceeded fully.

At the moment, in which to the Spanish real estate market one talks about, we are not in a as dramatic situation as the produced one in 1929, reason why it is possible to hope that the recovery is also less painful.

Therefore, we continued thinking that to have a house, that in addition we relatively bought enough years ago to a price under the majority of us, it is assets that can allow us to bear the crisis. And this is thus because products exist in the financial markets as the inverse mortgage.

They consult on the matter, they consult with professionals in this scope who are independent of any organization to avoid detrimental situations, look for, compare and take advantage the situation. But, mainly, they trust that its house continues being a safe value.
