The Program Universitari Rep to Great Ghent frames in the recommendations of the national and international organizations with respect to the integration of the people majors in the social and cultural life. Especially, within the activities to promote on the occasion of the political Declaration of II the World-wide Assembly on the Aging (the UN) of year 2002, celebrated in Madrid, where the conditions so that the universities support to the impulse of more and better opportunities of learning in our society of the knowledge throughout the life settle down.

From this perspective, the Program Universitari Rep to Great Ghent distributes a permanent formation during three years, with contents focused to the personal, intellectual and social growth of the students, who are divided in two great areas: Social humanities and Sciences. Also, the PUGG offers a participation and point of contact in which the majors harness their revitalizing roll within their own sociocultural context, which is translated in an improvement of the quality of life of the participant people at the same time as it indicates a preoccupation through the shared knowledge and experiences.


Objectives

The objectives of this program are structured in five proposals:

1. To incorporate to the people majors of 55 years or more to the university life and its sociocultural context, to promote its personal development.
2. To drive the participation of this group within the present society to harness its integration in formative processes throughout all the life.
3. To stimulate, from the experience, the knowledge updated in diverse areas of the knowledge and the culture that favor the quality of life.
4. To promote the development of the intergenerational relations intra and that facilitate the transference of saberes.
5. To make possible the new change technological introducing average that prepares to the majors for the access to the new technologies.

In this sense, the Program Universitari Rep to Great Ghent makes a bet decided by the democratization of the knowledge, in such a way that it understands the permanent formation like “learning for knowing how to live better one more a longer life�, in which the education is one more a tool to develop one better cohesion and to obtain therefore the longed for State of the Well-being.

Intergenerational binational seminary
The intergenerational binational seminary is a program between the Universitat Ramon Llull and the Catholic University of Freiburg (Germany), that consists of the interchange of students who prepare themselves to be professional of the social sector and active people majors that, in a context of formal education, realize a study and comparative analysis between both countries on a thematic one of social scope. Everything a success!

Methodology

The methodology of the PUGG is included within the collaborative learning and centers its action in a formation online (virtual campus), that allows that a great number of majors can accede to a university academic education of quality. In addition, it abre a door to all the people who have schedules and specific needs.

As far as its structure, this one knows a clearly interdisciplinary direction and it is organized in:

• Obligatory matters that they develop all the students of the program, with the purpose of to deepen in different scientific and cultural subjects that they facilitate the analysis and the reflection. These are Psychology, contemporary History, Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Anthropology.
• Optative subjects theoretical-practices that promote the active aging. The student can choose, based on his preferences, a series of modules that can update each academic course.
• Seminary of group character especially designed to work in equipment and to deepen in concrete disciplines, that favor the intergenerational relations intra and. The students meet periodically to articulate, to present/display and to elaborate sociocultural experiences of participation.

The duration of the program is of three years, at the end of which a title sent by the own university is obtained. The number of credits ECTS is of 24 per year, attending itself a total of 72 credits ECTS, with a dedication of two days to the week (Monday and Wednesday), in schedule of behind schedule, 16,30 to 19,30 hours.


Matriculation

In order to formalize the matriculation, before it is necessary to realize the request of place by means of a personal interview with the director of the PUGG, Xavier Lorente, contacting directly with him on telephone 93 415 25 51. This first interview must as objective offer an individualized attention to know the student and to solve of individual form all the referring questions and doubts to its future formation.

The terms established for the request of place for next course 2010-2011 are of the 1 of September to the 18 of November, in it soothes of Barcelona, and the 1 of September to the 29 of October, in soothes of Vielha (Lleida).
