When and why is born the Association from Grandmothers and Grandparents of Spain?
The Association of Grandmothers and Grandparents of Spain (Abuespa) is born the 17 from March of 2005. At the beginning of that year, a group of grandparents we decided to get up itself to some association that was in charge to help the grandparents, but no matter how hard we investigated we did not find any. Consequently, we created this association with the purpose of to maintain to the grandparents like part of the family with the same rights that any other member.

Which are the main objectives of the Association?
1. To approach the culture and the formation the grandparents so that they acquire the necessary knowledge, they modernize those that they have and they are able still more to help and to collaborate with his children in the care and formation of the grandsons.

2. To promote, to support and to impel cultural activities for the defense of the values and the recognition of the grandparents like active members of the family.

3. To maintain the illusions and capacities of the grandparents once retired.

4. To collaborate with the Public Administrations and any other type of national or international institutions, in the development of all those initiatives that agree with the aims of this association.

5. To foment studies of investigation for the improvement of the quality of life of the grandparents in Spain.

What questions think that they would have to be approached with special urgency?
First that is due to clarify it is that grandfathers are not a old one or a person of the third age. The members of our association are not it by their age, but by its condition of grandparents. We hardly have partners with 42 years that have been grandparents and have the right to participate in the Association. Also of more age, doubtlessly, but their needs based on the age are not treated in Abuespa.

The most important question that it would be due to approach is to obtain that the self-esteem of the grandparents stays at the suitable level so that all are happy. The grandparents accumulate an enormous amount of knowledge and of experience but, in some cases, they are obsolete. And they are it because everything advances at a great speed and in a period of time of 30 years the material things are few that work of the same form. In this sense, the Association tries to modernize its knowledge through classes, conferences and advising, so that the grandparents continue being an important piece of familiar support.

Really, everything what it is possible to be made to help the grandparents that they attend, consequently, his grandsons and their children, is of high priority for this Association.

What hopes of the reform of the public system of pensions?
The public system of pensions is a mere reflection of the economic situation of a country. If in Spain the economic situation so is aggravated that nor we already dare to predict what is going to happen in the short term is useless to ask that the pensions improve. Today still there are bottoms to pay them, but something does not become is going to arrive a little while in which those bottoms are going to disappear and with the rate of natality that exists every time in Spain will be less young people working and more people majors needing economic support. There is a saying that says: “If every day extractions of one more a box money del than you put, it tell me what you have in her and I will say you when one finishes�. It is not necessary to be an expert to know it.

Which is its opinion with respect to the application of the Law of Dependancy?
The Law of Dependancy comes to take care of needs of the family whom, by right, they must be covers. Nevertheless, we were with the same problem: if there are no economic resources not they will be able to cover. When it will be possible? When the economic situation improves with the effort of all, beginning by the politicians.

The crisis has increased to the number of grandparents kangaroo, but behind this figure there is an ample vital experience. It thinks that the society is taking advantage of the knowledge the people majors?
Grandfathers kangaroo are a form to fail to take advantage of a person because, indeed, he has much more behind each grandfathers. First of all, we must consider that the grandparents also have their own and deprived life, they are a family with all their autonomy and must right to live it. Also, logically, part of its life is the care, support, and education of its grandsons. But we do not forget that the people in charge of the formation and the maintenance of the children are their parents and who the grandparents never appear when really they are necessary or when voluntarily they want to do it, by obligation.

The grandparents have to be pending to cover the needs with their children, not them whims. And those needs can be of support to the grandsons, economic support or education, remembering to them, for example, something that seems to be old-fashioned: the human values like the honesty, laboriosidad, friendship, generosity, respect, sincerity, ethics, give, good work done, etc.

Towards where it thinks that one the future directs of the people majors?
In my opinion, in the future the people they will arrive at the oldness with an suitable formation, knowing perfectly what one moves around to his and thinking about taking advantage of its experience and knowledge to the benefit of the others. In return, this will provide one better quality to them of life. The future of the people majors, and which we are not majors, it is in our own hands.
